Come to a FREE, day long learning event for community webmasters and others using IT for Wellington’s communities. Register Now! Yes, they’re still open!
This event is for:
- volunteer webmasters
- people communicating with members using the web, email or social network for an all-volunteer group
- paid comms professionals or a part/ full-time webmasters in a not-for-profits
- someone responsible for almost everything in an office, including communications
- an industry professional wishing to give back to the community and share your knowledge and experience.
Participate in the Engage your community (EYC) unConference event if you:
- want to talk with others with similar interests
- are willing enter into a spirit of sharing and learning alongside your peers
- are seeking ways to improve your website, or explore other web tools, with others in the same boat.
Event details
- When: 9.30am-4.30pm Saturday, 21 August 2010
- Where: Rutherford House, Victoria University Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. Get directions to venue (including Google map). Programme: see the skeleton programme.
As we’ve told the caterers what food to supply, we no longer promise to meet specific dietary requirements.
Complimentary lunch, with plentiful hot drinks during the day. We’ll look into running a creche if there is interest.
What is this unConference all about?
This is an event with a difference. Rather than having a preset agenda, at the Engage your community (EYC) unConference anyone attending can suggest topics, run a session, dive in. Everyone who attends, collectively creates the agenda.
Together we’ll create a friendly, supportive environment where anyone can find answers to their questions about using the web/ IT to engage people and stay connected.
We’re not the only ones running this type of open, participatory gathering. Unconferences are common amongst IT communities. Even in Aotearoa New Zealand we’ve had foocamps, barcamps, wordcamps and cloudcamps. Find out more about unConferences.
Topics - it’s up to you!
Topics we could cover include:
- pushing things out, making an impact
- low, no budget web design, upgrades
- database management
- social media - using it as a tool
- e-newsletters
- confidence/ skill to update
- writing for the web.
On the site you can add details of a session you’d like to run, or something you’d like to spend some time learning about.
