Tom Reidy
Chairperson

Our Chair, Tom Reidy is the former creative director of Calcium Software, one of New Zealand’s leading e-marketing software companies. In addition to his UP role, he sits on the board of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and the New Zealand Software Association.  Tom has recently launched a new company, taking up his new role as Director of Market Development for www.Catalyst90.com.

Stephen Nicholas

Our ‘numbers man’, Stephen is CEO of chartered accountant firm OpenSide. His firm has a significant portion of clients operating in the technology area and has been involved with Xero since the early days. Openside has converted dozens of clients to Xero and continues to lead all other accounting practices using Xero by at least 100 clients (growing every day).

Anamika is passionate about promoting the successes of our entrepreneurs and telling their stories. Her communications consulting work, specialising in providing services to business, development initiatives, entrepreneurs and innovative businesses, has given her valuable insights into business success and the many resources required by entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses to grow. She is also an entrepreneurship specialist and freelance writer.

Chloe is a Business Advisor with the Activate programme at Grow Wellington. Before this Chloe was involved in establishing beverage innovation company the Oh! Group. The company spent two years in Creative HQ where Chloe was General Manager of their principal commercialisation, Loud&Lola premixed cocktails. She loves working with a wide range of start-up companies assisting them with growing a strong export oriented strategy.

Jacob joined the UP Committee in 2008.  He is a lawyer at Wigley and Company, a specialist IT and Telecommunications boutique law firm. Outside of UP and his legal work, Jacob is a qualified personal trainer; and has also performed at salsa events in New York, Cali (Colombia) and Sydney.

Jo has been an UP member since getting hooked on UP's networking potential in 2004, and subsequently joined the UP Executive Committee in July 2005. Alongside UP, Jo is involved with a number of local networking organisations and projects including WelMac and MovieFest and is a huge fan of Apple tech. He was also previously part of the Mesh|net project. He currently facilitates the Wellington Macintosh Society New Media Group and works for Intergraph SG&I.

Martin has been involved with programming computers since a lad, and is a big supporter of the ICT industry in Wellington. His background is in Enterprise Architecture as well as IT strategy, architecture and security. He's also interested in the share market.

Paul Spence has been involved in the NZ technology business networking scene for over eight years since establishing ION a virtual community for innovators and entrepreneurs. He is the director of management consultancy GeniusNet Ltd and runs the popular GeniusNet blog. Paul is also CEO of ideegeo Group limited, a domain industry technology services provider that created domain registrar platform iWantMyName.

After studying a Bachelor of Sciences Degree, Sarah fell into the IT field when the time came to enter the real world. Working in IT recruitment the inner geek was released, though hands on technical skills are still well under par. After attending UP events, Sarah saw the value it was offering to the Wellington IT community. She joined the Committee in 2006 and is part of the communications team. Currently working in the staffing team at EDS, an HP company, she is now full immersed in technology and enjoys being able to give something back to the industry through the event and networking opportunities UP provides to IT professionals, as well as the connections presented to our new affiliates and members though our joining with The Wellies.

Tabitha is People Capability Advisor at Meridian Energy, and in her spare time works on the One Laptop Per Child Programme and is education miniconf organiser for LCA2010. You can also find her blogging, denting and twittering.

Bex is a recent Computing graduate from Victoria University, with a keen interest in user interaction design and usability studies. She is currently participating in a summer internship at Weta Digital as a software developer. Originally from small-town America, she came to Wellington in 2005 on a working holiday, fell in love with the city, and has been here ever since. She volunteers at the Wellington Zoo and with the One Laptop Per Child program.

Jayne Wallis recently returned to Wellington and joined Unlimited Potential, with a desire to be part of the Wellington ICT community and wanting to make contributions to that community by helping organise networking events.  There's self interest with her involvement - Jayne is trying to start-up her own web company (The Lifebox Company Limited) and enjoys the opportunity to hear others speak about their experiences at UP events.  Jayne blogs about life and work bits and pieces at www.lifeboxarchive.blogspot.com, and runs a government consulting business Fivepeas Limited on other days to help pay for her caffeine addiction and the rent.

Alex Dean

Currently working as Senior Solutions Consultant at KnowledgeCue, Alex is a self-confessed “serial expat”. Born in Switzerland to Scottish and English parents he was raised in Germany and in 1996 went on to study Business Information Technology in London. Since then he has lived and worked in Spain, Holland, Germany, Denmark and England. In August 2007 he immigrated to Wellington and is currently working as a Microsoft Certified Trainer, SharePoint consultant, and as the brains behind Jigsaw Magazine. Alex is relishing the opportunity to work closer with the IT expat community as part of his new UP role.



Bronwyn Holloway-Smith

Our trusty Secretary, Bronwyn, joined UP in 2007. In addition to this role, is the Director and Co-Founder of the Creative Freedom Foundation and sits on the Enjoy Public Art Gallery Trust.

Ruth McDavitt
Events Co-ordinator

Ruth actively provides businesses support for entrepreneurs and growing businesses (especially ICT ones, of course) in Wellington.  After being blown away by the inspiring community at an UP event, she joined the Committee in 2007.  Since then, she's helped improve access to business networks and assisted in the success of its events. Ruth works at Grow Wellington, and is co-founder of bizchat, an online community for NZ businesses.
